our bundle of joy is due at any minute and everything is ready. Going through labour is different for every woman, but there are some telltale signs to watch out for to indicate that labour is imminent. Here are 7 indications which will tell you to grab your hospital bag and get ready for your new arrival.
1. You cramps are back. Having the feeling of your pre - menstrual cramps is the first sign to look out for. A persistent pain in your lower back and / or abdomen with these period like pains are signs that your baby is starting to make its way away from the lining of your womb.
2. Painful contractions or tightening. For first time mothers this pain can be a shock to the system and you will know straight away it isn't a pain you are familiar with. To begin with contractions can be irregular in both the amount of time in between them and the dosage of pain. These pains can stop and start so be ready in case they don't stop.
3. Upset tummy. Putting it politely. If you are experiencing what you describe as an upset tummy with loose bowels it is a sign that there is something going on inside which is either a sign of labour or your curry last night.
4. Disrupted sleep. If you are having trouble sleeping near your due date this could be a sign that your body is going through its final flight checks before the arrival.
5. Hormone overdrive. Apologise to your spouse in advance as your hormones will be even worse. Constant and dramatic changes in your mood is expected and will be the quite frequent so if you feel that your hormones have kicked it up a notch it's time to start getting ready.
6. Discharge. Having a brown or blood-tinged mucus like discharge is a sign that things are moving. You could have this at the last minute or a few days before the labour so be prepared to leave for the hospital at any time.
